Screening Report: Memento Memento is a movie which will always be one of my favorites from a critical point of view. Christopher Nolan’s method of using flashback and flashforward dominate most of the space here. Leonard Shelby is the medium through which Nolan actually manipulated the temporal relations and give a complicated meaning to the plot and story of the movie. When the movie starts the audience is clueless. They are actually uncertain about the lead character Lenny because he seems unreliable and also the technique of reversed scene and flashback within the first three minutes. Memento was released in the year 2000 and falls under the category of neo-noir psychological thriller. The main theme of the movie is memory and so the title of the movie is completely justified. It shows Lenny’s struggle to start over again as he cannot develop new memories. A constant cycle of learning, committing same mistakes and dealing with the same trauma continues.
